Photobook Pack 1

This are the four photobooks we are launching on Big Cartel, let's call it, Pack 1. Very original. Really. Any way, the price for all four zines is 13€ (shipping included). Super promo! The four photobooks are made for four special photographers, some of them, you already know them:

The 2pm 6am photobook by Irene Serrano is also known as "The Winnie the poo" one. A few problems we had about kids opening the zine... ups. Let's not spam the content. :)
Northwestern Wild is a photobook made and designed by Paula Prats, a Spanish photographer who received a BA from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, in 2011. A few months ago, she published this wonderful booklet.

"Northwestern wild is a compilation of images from an isolated island on the west coast of Canada.
Taken back in 2011, it is my very first series."

Ah, this one is fantastic. Ekaterina really made a nice selection of his documentary work Russian citizens and the pilgrimages to publish our first photobook with us: Pilgrimage. Here a interesting text from Solovieva's website:

Since 2007 I devote my time to studying of the life in Russian province paying special attention to its communal-religious side. As a photodocumentalist I am particularly interested in the topics of pilgrimage, abandoned churches, monasteries transferred to secular purposes, Orthodox communes and communes of other religions. My photozine «Паломники» (Pilgrimage) is devoted to the first of these topics.

Such things as the pilgrimage and processions are very popular in Russia now. In each region of the country there is it’s own, mostly respected saint or saints. Or some special place where something tragic or historically important happened. It is these places or those, where the saints lived, that the processions move to. People come together (the most popular procession in the Kirov region counts up to 50000 people every year) and carrying icons, and singing march on during a few days, stopping for sleeping and praying.
This is a very interesting and positive action, that I love to watch and take pictures of. People reveille themselves in new circumstances, that are impossible in their everyday life – during a prayer in a church, a confession, or a lengthily off-road walk…

Yaroslavl, Tver, Arkhangelsk regions, Russia
2012-201

The last of this female photobook pack is Tafelen by Nicoletta Van Doorn, published last year and designed by Pere Saguer using his comic grids. The narrative of the photobook is very personal, like a diary about his journeys in the Iberian regions. What are you waiting? Get the pack here.

GRAF 2016

This coming friday 4th of March starts one of the most devoted to author comic and independent publishing fair: GRAF.

Poster by the Cristina Daura, who won the award for best new author at Expocómic 2015

As at previous editions of the festival, audiences will have access to limited distribution materials and publications that are practically hand-crafted at more than seventy stands hosted by authors, associations and independent publishers.

All the publications you are going to be able to find at the fair.

A series of talks and round tables will introduce discussion of the current state of the graphic arts industry, whilst various workshops aimed at both old and young will invite the public to put their own skills to the test, guided by some of today's leading illustrators.

To get an idea of what last year's edition of GRAF at Fabra i Coats was like, have a look at the video summary here:

You can find the list of exhibitors at GRAF and the full festival programme here.

Sant Jordi 2015 (photos)

Last 23th of April we selled photozines and collage zines at Vila de Gràcia town square (in Barcelona). We joined the proposal of Lindero Libros to put our own desk on there, and probably we are going to repeat the experience next year. The sun did act of presence all day, plus the recent pruning of the square, left the skin burned to all of us.

Landscapes & Duality of loneliness

Yeap! Has been a while since i don’t show you the new zines we have been publishing on Bad Wether. Today, two of them, and both from new photograph artists!

Landscapes is a photozine of known places. Others, discovered by Clémenthine Thomas during his long trips. Enigmatic, magical and symmetrically beautiful landscapes. You will not find human presence on all pages. You will be alone and calm.

We can’t say the same about Duality of loneliness, alone yes but… calm? The images have been composed and cut to look like a comic, photographs talk linearly (in the direction of the history) and as a whole double page composition.

In every page, the dialogues become more dark, enigmatic and in some cases, depressive. We are really suprised with Vertice Vortice's (Ana Núñez Rodríguez) work, love it!

FLIA 2014: brief description.

The last October was eventful. The same weekend we were at the Vancouver Art/Book Fair, we were also at the second edition of FLIA. (See pictures of the last year here.)

The desk. With a flag from Slovakia as a tablecloth.

It was a very warm day, but thanks to the good faith of the girls from Lindero Libros (Noe Lavado and Helena Rovira) we could manage to fit under a sunshade. On the other side of the table we were nicely accompanied by Ignacio Navas, who was selling his last photozine «Yolanda». An amazing publication.

The girls that handdle Lindero Libros.

Overall, considering all the publishers who came and the people who attended the event, we think it’s right to think that FLIA has already become one of the major fairs to consider in the world of self-publishing.

(On the right) Irkus, the ambassador of Fatbottom.

(with a cup of coffee) Edu, from Adolfo Press.

Tropèl and his "tunning carriage".

And yes, there was some cool street music too. Thanks to all who made it possible.
