Fotografia Europea 2014 / Reggio nell'Emilia, Italy

Robert (left) from Bad Weather Press and Margarida (right) from Desisto on Arts Libris

Quick update wile we are on the Arts Libris fair (wich opened yesterday) and will remain open until Sunday 27 April. After this event, we are pleased to anounce that our published (and reprinted) work from Carlos Cancela, Natureza, luz, homem, will be exhibited on the "Senza Meta. Il libro come pensiero fotografico" (Without a destination. The book as a photographic thought) and it will be one of the major show of the Festival.
The exhibition will remain open to the public untill 15th of June.

Fotografia Europea is an annual photographic Festival hold in Reggio Emilia, Italy, that this year reaches its ninth edition. The Festival is a cultural project that intends to attain the widest European cultural ambit and takes the cue by the work of the local photographer Luigi Ghirri who was able to create a dialogue between different artistic languages such as photography, architecture, sculpture, literature and music. The festival tries to keep this interdisciplinary attitude inviting artists and photographers from all over Europe and adopting a unique subject for each edition.

"Natureza, luz, homem" will be also available to buy on the festival through the Milan photobookstore: Micamera. Also, on Fatbottom Books, Gutter Fest next month and online on the website.

Arts Libris & Gutter Fest 2014

Hello again! This month, and the next one, we are on fairs! The first one is Arts Libris, is a Artist book fair in Barcelona, organized by Raíña Lupa and Arts Santa Mònica.

(copy from the web): Arts Libris will take place from the 23rd until the 27th of April in the Arts Santa Mònica Centre. As in previous editions, the opening will coincide with Sant Jordi: the Catalan national holiday that celebrates literature, books as art pieces, experimental graphic design and special editions. In relation to Michel Butor’s quote: “In the future, the few books in which we will be interested, will be the ones considered artworks”, Arts Libris is working for this future to be full of fascinating, pleasant and stimulating editions and books.

Poster by Clara-Iris Ramos, beautiful!

On 9 and 10 of May, we have the D.I.Y. supreme fair on Hangar: Gutter Fest. We went there the last year and was really good! Music, comics, photozines and lots of screenprints. Like in Arts Libris (and as usual on all the fairs we are going), we are going to have music from Orgonomy Records, specially the last cd Blue Birds Dominion.

Pere Saguer (Bad Weather Press) with the zines and cd's next to Carla Besora (Tropèl)

And, don't forget to follow the Zines of the Zone tour! Last photographs we saw, from Budapest, we saw Internet romance and Altres tafaners! Good to see the stuff published travelling around Europe!

Pilgrimage by Ekaterina Solovieva

A month ago, we published Pilgrimage (ПАЛОМНИКИ), a limited edition photozine in black and white about, yeah..., a pilgrimage. The report and the tracking of all the journeys were made, with a lot of patience, by Ekaterina Solovieva.

Ekaterina Solovieva is from Moscow (Москва́), and after graduating as a journalist at the University of Moscow, he moved to Hamburg, were she stills working with its greatest passion: photography.

You can find ПАЛОМНИКИ at Fatbottombooks, and soon in other bookstores. We are also going to have it at Arts Libris Zine & Artbook fair in Barcelona (if this is the case, mail us so we can keep it for you!). For future information, stay in touch at our twitter and facebook accounts!

Capitalismo Barbarie and other fanzines at the Fatbottom bookstore in Barcelona

The exhibition has been possible thanks to the work of the Photobookshow and the TIP (Tokyo Institute of Photography), the Photobookshow is a Brighton-based arts organisation, set up in 2011 by William Sadowski and Kevin Beck to raise the profile of artist-led photobooks.

The Photobookshow aims to hold several exhibitions a year, alongside talks and workshops. The Tokyo exhibition comes after a recent exhibition in Malmö, at the Vasli Sousa (first weeks of February) and paves the way for the next great exhibition G Photobook show in Brighton (England) from the 6 to the 15 of June at the One Eyed Jacks Gallery.

Zines of the Zone: Barcelona

The CFD hall

Ana Zaragoza García photobook "La famille poirot 1", we love it!

Yep, so Tuesday we made a short visit to the Zines of the zone event in CFD (Creació de Fotografía Documental) in Barcelona, organized with the Photobook Club Barcelona. We couldn't stay in the they did, but we take a look at the collection and we can guarantee that it's a valuable treasure.

We had the chance to have a look at the Booklet version of "Stories" named "Afterword".

I hope the next city on the tour: Vevey, Switzerland (you can see the full list here), can enjoy our photozines and collage zines, because we left a good pile.
